This is a temporary webpage.  I didn't realize that when Bead and Button Magazine said there would be an article on my work in the December issue that the December issue really gets mailed out in October.  A friend in Denmark already has a copy so I am belatedly and hurriedly attempting to make this all a little more current.

If you live near Minneapolis-St. Paul,  I will be doing a demonstration  at Potek Glass on Friday evening November 3.  This is part of an open house at Malcom's studio, which a really great place to take classes.  I am teaching there as well.  For details visit Potek Glass  Prize for the most well-intentioned hot dish.

There are new pictures on the gallery page, replacing ones that have been up there for 4 or 5 years now.

Be sure to check out the video of Viking glass beadmaking on the link on the teaching page.  Torben Sode will join me in Ireland next summer and part of the class will involve making glass beads in a hand-built furnace like the one in the video.

In early September, I spent two weeks in Denmark. Part of the trip was spent at Bifrost Studio, where I taught a three day class.  Students came from Israel, Sweden, Norway, Germany and Denmark. This is a rare moment when everyone was listening.  .
My friend Maibritt Jonsson and I are looking for Neolithic petroglyphs in the rain in the middle of the night in the middle of a pasture in the middle of nowhere on the island of Bornholm in the middle of the Baltic Sea. The petroglyphs are supposed to be easier to see when they are wet.  The darkness was not much of an advantage.

We went back to the pasture a couple days later and did a few rubbings and met up with some new friends.  Always out standing in my field.
Next time I go back to Denmark I want to stay here.  This is Fredensborg where the Queen and the Crown Prince and his family live.  I have seen the royal jewels and while they are quite nice, it's all a lot of gold and diamonds and emeralds and stuff like that. They could use some beads.
This is where I had to stay this year.

I found it roomy, but overdecorated. .

Actually, it is Frederiksborg Castle which is a museum.

2007 will be a big year for me.  Lots of classes, lots of travel, a presentation at the Gathering in Minneapolis and I will turn 60 in May.  2007 will be my First Annual Farewell Tour.  I am planning on at least 10 more.
